In-Person Mentoring

Chairside mentoring within your own practice.

In-person mentoring is suitable for dentists who wish to receive direct support during implant procedures, with structured planning and reflective review before and after the clinical session.

What’s included:

• Pre-mentoring case discussion and assessment.
• Structured pre-operative planning via Zoom or telephone.
  (review of radiographs, CBCT imaging, photographs, study models/scans, and the clinician’s proposed treatment plan).
• One-to-one chairside mentoring on the clinical day.
• Post-operative discussion and reflective feedback.

Prior to the mentoring session, clinicians are asked to share details of their implant system, instruments, drills, and biomaterials, allowing mentoring to be aligned with their existing clinical workflow.

Fees:

• £2,850 – Full clinical day
• £1,500 – Half clinical day

Choosing the appropriate mentoring option

• Dentists early in their implant journey may benefit from in-person mentoring or formal remote mentoring to support structured progression.
• Clinicians placing implants independently may prefer formal remote mentoring for complex planning or reflective learning.
• Straightforward cases or isolated queries may be suited to informal case advice.

Mentoring provided by Dr Kit Spears is intended to support professional development, reflective practice, and clinical decision-making in dental implantology. All mentoring is advisory in nature. The treating clinician retains full responsibility at all times for patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, consent, clinical execution, aftercare, and record keeping.

Informal case advice is provided as general guidance only and does not constitute formal mentoring, supervision, or a medico-legally recognised mentored case. Formal remote mentoring may be suitable for inclusion as a mentored case in a professional logbook where appropriate; however, acceptance of cases for training or accreditation purposes remains at the discretion of the relevant awarding or regulatory bodies.

Mentoring does not replace:

• Appropriate postgraduate training.
• Clinical competence.
• Professional judgement.
• Personal indemnity arrangements.

Clinicians undertaking mentoring are expected to:

• Work within their scope of practice and level of competence.
• Hold appropriate professional indemnity insurance.
• Comply with GDC Standards for the Dental Team and relevant professional guidance.
• Retain full responsibility for patient assessment, consent, treatment delivery, and aftercare.
• Mentoring does not replace appropriate training, competence, or indemnity arrangements.

Mentoring availability is subject to clinical suitability, case complexity, and prior discussion.
